Since 2012, Kapernikov has been ensuring the readiness of all master data used in Infrabel’s SAP EAM system. This has allowed the company to manage the maintenance of its installations more efficiently.
Every day, more than 12.000 Infrabel employees make sure that the Belgian railway equipment – catenaries, switches, signals, crossings, etc. – is in optimal condition. To run the maintenance of its installations more efficiently, Infrabel has been rolling out an SAP EAM system across the entire technical workforce. Since 2012, Kapernikov has been ensuring the readiness of all master data used in the SAP EAM system.
In a first phase, Kapernikov focused on the data describing all signaling installations. We performed a data quality assessment and coordinated a data cleaning program. Considering the regional differences in the data management processes, we deduced a best-practice process. We also specified and implemented an interface to load master data from the technical inventory into SAP.
Our data cleaning program has not only improved data quality, but made the maintenance team more aware that reliable master data is an indispensable tool for planning and organizing the everyday work. Infrabels KPIs have shown that the data quality improvements Kapernikov has achieved since 2012 are sustained through the data management process that has been implemented.
