Staying challenged and always growing

Keeping an eye on technology trends is critical in the fast-paced world of Industry 4.0. It’s a responsibility Frank Dekervel loves to take upon him. Not only because it’s necessary for Kapernikov to remain on course for the future, but also because it keeps Frank’s job interesting and challenging.

Frank is one of the founders of Kapernikov. Together with his business partner Rein Lemmens, Frank started a web services agency in 2004. In 2010, Frank and Rein joined forces with Jan Frederik Léger to start Kapernikov.

“Instead of looking at marketing data, we were suddenly looking at databases of transformers and other electrical components,” says Frank Dekervel. “On the one hand, this focus shift came naturally. On the other hand, it was also a rational choice: we wanted to work in an interesting industry that appealed to our curiosity and ambitions.”

New technology trends

Today, Frank is mainly working for Belgian railway grid operator Infrabel. In addition, he has taken up the responsibility of keeping Kapernikov on the right technology track. This means keeping abreast of all the new technology trends, so the company is always prepared to handle new customer needs and address new opportunities. Frank also makes sure that Kapernikov employees are in the know about new technologies, through training, courses or by organizing regular mini-hackathons.

We believe in giving people freedom, instead of confining them to a rigid schedule.

Personal growth equals company growth

It’s a common thread through everything Frank stands for: growing as a company by making sure that Kapernikov employees are growing personally as well. “We like to be challenged in what we do and we always seek to push the limits of what’s possible. That’s why we also believe in giving people freedom, instead of being confined to a rigid working schedule. This pays off in the end. And most of all, we believe in creating a good working atmosphere, so our employees are motivated to get out of bed every morning and come to work with us.”

Kapernikov loves people that want to grow. And sometimes this means taking initiative and going off the beaten path. Frank Dekervel: “If you have that in you, and you can mix technical skill with people skills, then you definitely have the Kapernikov DNA we are looking for.”
